Patent Activities in the Chemical Industry

The influence of the mixing in the industry today is inactivity, which is normally not the industry’s intention. Good management is needed because the complexity of this unit operation. But we must consider the principle that any process of manufacturing any material—the due process, of course, of interaction between materials—is based on a mixing environment that we’re generating for the material introduction. With this in mind, we’ll understand that for any unit operation, for any process that we’re having, the mixing during this scaleup or during the transfer of technology is critical. So, we can talk about the influence of the different mixing processes, like reactions, crystallization formulation, fermentation and so on.

Another very important point is how we connect the mixing with the patent activities in a company. And indeed, we’re touching on a point that is critical for the industry, because if we are able to protect our process or our new chemicals by patents, we will have an advantage over other companies developing similar products and processes. They invest all the price that we can take from a specific material, which will be more robust. And this condition should be taking that into account. When we talk about the influence of the mixing in a process, we’re talking about the capability to generate in our media the conditions we intended to have, which will guide the process to the final product that we’re looking for with the best optimal capability for any equipment we are using.

We’ve found that when the processes are transferred from scientists—chemists or biologists—to the manufacturers in chemical plants and facilities, sometimes the interactions between a pure material, or chemical or biological entities, and the provided environment change. The parameters are adjusted, and sometimes we discover that a different kind of environment becomes more advantageous for our product. Why is this so? Loyal people in the industry sometimes find that there are these different conditions that were not used for any other application, and this discovery can generate a pattern. It’s happening, of course, in the pharmaceutical industries—and for every kind of activity, because these pharmaceutical industries are well covered by patterns. But we can protect the value of any product by using patterns. When I worked in the industry and showed what the mythology to work was and how to connect the mixing process and development, we were able to write about thirteen to fifteen patterns.

And the chemical-related patterns were created in such a way that we were able to generate my PhD and write one or two patents in a field that was only populated by chemists. The borders were more expansive. But when this specific field wanted to grow and enter the industry, we found that the pattern was not an effective process. In order to be competitive in today’s market, we needed to understand the mixing issues better. And from these activities, we generated some more patterns because of some concepts, like the axioma concept, that we had at the beginning of our work. Hey, we’re not exacting what’s really happening to the skin. And it wasn’t enough to be innovative and write the impact. So, when we talk about mixing influencing the industry, we can even talk about the consequences of it in the pattern of the process protection that will generate more income for the company.
