VisiMix bridges the gap that separates engineering practice from achievements in the field of mathematical simulation. It provides chemical and process engineers with the ability to perform technical calculations based on the results of the most recent research and on mathematical modeling of mixing processes.
VisiMix is based on the classical approach to the problems of applied hydrodynamics developed by Kolmogoroff, Hinze, and Levich in application to modern deterministic and stochastic physical models of mixing phenomena.
Development of the first versions of the VisiMix programs is preceded by many years of systematical scientific research in the field of hydrodynamics, heat- and mass transfer and practical experience of designing and running of industrial mixing equipment of different volume and destination.
This work ias been started in 1960 in a specialized mixing department of industrial R&D institute of chemical machinery and is continued in VisiMix Ltd. by a highly qualified team of co-workers headed by L.Braginsky (D.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, currently – Director R&D of VisiMix LTD) and including Dr.V.Begatchev, D.Sc.V.Barabash, Dr.Y.Kokotov., Dr.Y.Nekhamkin, Dr. O.Mankovsky, D.Sc. N.Kulov, Dr.M.Belevitskaya, Dr.E.Kozlova, Dr. V.Yaroshenko, Dr. A.Gurvich, Dr.E. Nicolaishvily, D.Sc. M.Evilevich, Dr et.al., .
VisiMix programs are based on mathematical models and methods of calculations that have been developed as a result of these researches. Development of these methods includes the following stages:
-general theoretical description of mixing phenomena (velocity distribution, heat transfer, mass transfer, etc) based on fundamental equations of flow dynamics, heat and mass transfer and modern methods of mathematical simulation and numerical solution;
– simplification of the general systems of equations in correspondence with specific features of geometry, flow pattern, heat and mass transfer in mixing equipment of industrial types;
– purposeful experimental researches and defining of empirical functions and constants that are necessaryin order to complete the systems of equations (boundary conditions, resistance factors, characteristic scales, mixing lengths, etc) and to ensure their applicability for tanks and impellers of all the main industrial types and designs;
– development of physical and mathematical models and experimental research on some physical phenomena that are specific for mixing equipment (pick-up of solid, breaking and coalescence of droplets, dissolution, shear around impeller blades or in RSD channels, etc);
-verification of the models with experimental researches, using equipment of different types and scales, and also – experimental information published by other researchers;
– development algorithms and methods for technical calculations and verification of the methods by application for designing of production scale mixing equipment and testing (on testing sites of machinery plants) and running this equipment.
